Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to provide autonomous assistance to the People We Support to fulfil their potential for independence, choice, inclusion, and control. You will be responsible for ensuring that care and support is of a high standard, focused on person centred outcomes and delivered within budget.
Locations & Travel:
Ashfield House, Stourbridge.
The role will be based at Ashfield House in Stourbridge. As part of the role you will be required to transport the People We Support (vehicle provided) so you will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Main responsibilities:
1. Working under the direction of the Team Leader, plan and provide support and care to foster the wellbeing and development of the People We Support in accordance with their person-centred support and care plan, recording and reviewing progress as directed, so that the People We Support can fulfil their potential for independence, choice, inclusion and control by, for example, supporting residents to:
- • Maintain clean, tidy and welcoming living environments. • Use appropriate laundry equipment, so they can be enabled to do their laundry and clothing, so they have suitable and clean clothing to wear.
- • Plan, shop for and prepare healthy and wholesome meals alongside them, taking into account their choices and wishes.
- • Be healthy, by assisting them to arrange and attend medical appointments.
- • Look after their finances, by supporting them on an individual basis to budget, monitor their finances and access benefits.
- • Maintain an active and supportive social life, taking into account individual choices and wishes.
- • Access training, work and support.
2. Working under the direction of the Team Leader, provide personal care to the People We Support where required and appropriate as part of their support and care plan (eg. bathing, hair washing etc) and where the appropriate registration is in place.
3. Some of the People We Support may at times present challenging behaviour and you will be expected to act accordingly with their individual NAPPI guidelines to prevent and de-escalate incidents (training on NAPPI and associated techniques will be provided).
Person Specification:
- A current, valid (minimum 2 years) manual UK driving licence is essential.
- You will preferably have experience of supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and distressed behaviours/emotions. However, this is not essential as training will be given.
