Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport professional to join our Market Drayton site as Transport Team Leader.

The successful candidate will be responsible in overseeing the Transport Operations team to ensure the operation is running in the most efficient way. This site in Market Drayton operations with a fleet size of 30 units, 70 trailers and has a headcount of 80-90 drivers with volume rapidly increasing.

Salary:  £34,421 per annum. 

Working hours:  Sunday to Thursday, 22:00 - 06:30 *Flexibility is required for holiday cover*.

Key Duties of Transport Team Leader:

To allocate both drivers and vehicles to loads in the most efficient way, taking into account holidays and sickness, drivers hours and WTD regulations. Effective communication with the planning team and other depots to optimise resource across the network and achieve the most efficient plan. Planning driver start times to meet the sites despatch KPI. Proactively communicate with third party hauliers to ensure collection times are adhered to from site. Maintaining clear and effective communication with drivers, communicating accurate start times, load information, directions. Ensure orders are despatched and delivered in the right condition in line with customer specifications. Communicate with the collection or delivery points to advice of any delays. Maintaining good morale, reporting any driver’s issues or concerns to management. In turn, communicating any operational changes that may affect a driver’s daily duties. Manage the integrity of the transport system functionality (housekeeping). This list is not exhaustive and the successful candidate may be required to carry out other duties.

Qualifications

Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information. The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure. Able to work as part of a team or individually. Knowledge & experience of tachograph / driving rules and regulations. CPC National desirable but not essential. Attention to detail / accuracy. Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy. Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages. Transport experience ideally in a FMCG environment.
