Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Head of Maths to lead our Mathematics Department. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving forward the quality of maths education, raising attainment levels, and fostering a love for mathematics among our students. This is a fantastic opportunity for a visionary leader to make a significant impact on our school’s academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and management of the Mathematics Department.
  • Develop and implement an inspiring, comprehensive, and challenging curriculum.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the department.
  • Support and mentor a team of dedicated maths teachers, promoting professional development and sharing best practices.
  • Analyze and utilize data to drive improvements in student outcomes.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates students to achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to contribute to the overall strategic direction of the school.
  • Lead extracurricular activities related to mathematics, such as math clubs and competitions.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a proven track record of raising student achievement.
  • Previous leadership experience within an educational setting, ideally as a Head of Department or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable:

  • Experience in teaching A-Level Mathematics.
  • Familiarity with the latest educational technologies and their application in the classroom.
