Job summary

The Outreach Podiatrist is responsible for providing high-quality outreach Podiatry services to individuals and groups. This may include but not limited to those vulnerable patients who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, those who are incarcerated or any other situation which prevents a patient from an on-site appointment.

The successful candidate must hold a valid driver's licence and have a car due to the outreach work being offsite.

The post holder will lead on, and deliver a range of care across the service to include (but not limited to and not intended to be exhaustive):

Homelessness in Ealing

Prison services

Community projects which could include drugs and alcohol service

Health promotion

Education/Training to students/volunteers/cadets/Apprentice/work experience/assistants

Support to the volunteers in Podiatry

Lead on Co-production

Work with PCNs/Health and Justice service/Council

Work with the Health Ealing service for tackling health inequalities

Main duties of the job

The Main duties are in the Job description:

These will include working with the Homeless, Prison services and any other outreach services we may provide services for. This is will also include providing care in the community clinics and well as doing home visits for routine/high risk/wound care patients.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

BSc (Hons) Degree in Podiatry Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists Diabetes Foot module or equivalent. HCPC Registered Podiatrist Certificate in local anaesthesia Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

Experience of Masters level study MA/MSc or equivalent level of academic ability/experience (or working towards) Non-medical prescribing Post-graduate certificate in education or willing to work towards one C&G teaching certificate

Previous Experience

Essential

Experience in the NHS working with the at risk foot, MSK and nail surgery and moderate risk foot. Experience of Working in a multidisciplinary team and liaison with other health care professionals Experience of line-management (leading supervision and appraisal) Teaching/training of colleagues/students/health care professionals/patients/public High level of expertise in Facilitation, Clinical Supervision, coaching and mentoring experience Progressive clinical practice - effective analysis and decision making in wound management, biomechanical gait analysis and nail surgery

Desirable

Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate student training. Work experience within a hospital podiatry service Understanding of the Higher Education Institution structures and processes Interest and Experience in development new staff members Understanding of learning theories and their application to clinical environments Previous involvement in curriculum development and or programme development. Carrying out investigations incidents or complaints Experience of communication and collaborative working with internal and external stakeholders and providers Budgetary awareness Report writing skill CPD training in leadership and management

Skills and knowledge

Essential

Extensive knowledge of the effect of diabetes in podiatric care. Knowledge of current evidence based / best practices. Extensive skills in assessment, diagnoses and treatment of the high-risk foot with emphasis on the diabetic foot. Sound knowledge and experience in wound care including treatment modalities. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills in pressure 'off loading', the treatment of ulceration and prevention of ulcers in the high-risk foot. Ability and knowledge of appropriate investigations required in the treatment of the high-risk foot. Co-ordinate where required, appropriate care Ability and experience of foot health education/promotion. Knowledge of National policy relating to the diabetic foot as well as other aspects of footcare. Ability to undertake nail surgery assessments, procedure and post-operative care. Effective organisational skills Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills. Ability to work with a diverse population
