Podiatrists - Full time, part time, Return to Practice and Bank opportunities available in Luton and Bedfordshire

Bedfordshire and Luton Community Health Services are looking for Band 6 Podiatrists who are passionate and committed to providing high quality care to join our team in Bedfordshire.

Our Podiatry service is a diverse, supportive and innovative team and our work has been included in 3 national guides published by NHS England and NHS Benchmarking. This has included :-

Collaborative care home training project tackling pressure ulcer prevention and diabetic foot disease

Diabetes transformation reducing amputations and bed nights,

The role of Podiatry in primary care.

The post holder will be HCPC registered, qualified to administer Local Anaesthetic and passionate about providing high-quality podiatry care with excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

We are looking for experienced or return to practice qualified Podiatrist to join our team, You will be assigned a line manager who will provide regular supervision and support.

You will also receive clinical rotations and competency support.

As a service we provide

MDfT for acute diabetic foot complications,

In- patient provision

Early intervention of diabetic foot problems with proactive identification of the vulnerable caseloads in primary care

Access to an evolving and expanding foot protection service including specialist vascular assessment, musculoskeletal assessment and access to non medical prescribers

Well developed and established education packages providing structured education and diabetes support to the Diabetic population and other health professionals

Care Homes training programme in collaboration with Dietitians and TVNs

In addition we also hold musculoskeletal, Rheumatology and Paediatric and Nail Surgery clinics

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential

HCPC Registered Podiatrist BSc / BSc (Hons) Diploma Podiatry Local Analgesia Certificate Minor surgical skills Evidence of ongoing CPD and interest in self development.

Experience

Essential

Experience of a wide range of patient, disease and pathology types at risk and high risk foot and the skills/experience to understand the pathologies involved in diabetic foot disease, delivering specialist treatment and care programmes accordingly Clinical experience Previous NHS experience at band 5/6 level Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and clinical quality Knowledge a wide range of patient, disease and pathology types particularly relating to diabetic conditions affecting the foot and lower limb Knowledge and experience of using a variety of appropriate wound care therapies
