Job overview

Occupational Health Departments are based at both Ipswich and Colchester Hospital, specialising in the prevention and management of work-related health issues. We are looking to recruit a Full Time Clinic Nurse to join the team working across ESNEFT and customer sites.

To be considered for this role it is essential you are a Registered Nurse. It is beneficial if you have Occupational Health or Practice Nurse experience but is not essential as full training will be provided.

There is a full induction into this role through a period of supervised practice and developing your competence and confidence through a programme of Occupational Health specific competencies.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work confidently and collaboratively across professional boundaries, both within the team and with our clients. Knowledge and experience of using an IT information management system for record keeping.

Main duties of the job

In this position you will help in preventing problems with health and well-being, promoting healthy living and working conditions, assessing and managing workplace risks, and health screening.

Your duties will include pre placement screening, needle stick management, immunisations and venepuncture, as well as being involved in the duty nurse which is available daily for support and help. As clients’ needs require you may also be required to carry out audiometry, eye tests, urine samples, lung function tests and drug tests.

Working for our organisation

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients’ own homes.

We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what’s widely regarded as the world’s best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge, then we want to hear from you.
