We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team in Chippenham, United Kingdom. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating delicious and visually appealing sushi dishes whilst maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety.
- Prepare fresh ingredients, including raw fish and other seafood, for sushi production
- Create a variety of sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi with precision and creativity
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices are followed at all times
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely food preparation
- Assist in menu development and suggest new sushi creations
- Monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels of sushi ingredients and supplies
- Provide excellent customer service, including answering queries about menu items and ingredients
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques
- Adapt to changing customer demands and seasonal menu changes
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation techniques
- Excellent knife skills and ability to create visually appealing food presentations
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings and weekends
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when required
- Enthusiasm and passion for creating high-quality sushi dishes
- Ability to multitask efficiently whilst maintaining a calm demeanour
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and menu items
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
- Customer-focused attitude with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Reliable transportation for commuting to work
- Food hygiene certification (desirable)
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Japanese language is a plus
