Inclusion and Wellbeing is our holistic approach to physical and psychological health and safety – addressing the unique risk factors in construction.

At Laing O'Rourke we are looking to grow our diverse Health & Safety function in Oxford. We want a Health & Safety manager who can manage, lead and champion Health & Safety delivery on projects on Oxford North.

Oxford North will deliver one million sq ft (92,903 sq m) of laboratory and workspaces, 480 new homes, hotel, nursery, cafes, bars, three public parks and infrastructure. A Health & Safety manager will support and facilitate the delivery of Inclusion & Wellbeing across the project and measure Health & Safety performance against strategic deliverables.

Position summary:

  • Provide local advice and support necessary to assist managers and staff to fulfil their safety responsibilities to the high standards demanded by the business.
  • Facilitate and coach operational teams on Inclusion & Wellbeing and the respective engagement tools, which will allow the team to engage effectively with the workforce.
  • Carry out relevant Health & Safety assurance activities, providing confidence to the business that operational effectiveness of all relevant processes are being delivered.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Qualification at level 5 (min)
  • Technical knowledge in Occupational Health Risk Management and Wellbeing
  • Technical knowledge in Safety Risk Management
  • Coaching / Training competence
  • Assurance / Audit / Investigation competence
  • Member of relevant professional body
