Job summary

The successful applicant will work within an integrated mental health team, based within HMP Buckley hall in Rochdale. We are a training prison, catering for category C male offenders.

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the post holder is responsible for managing a caseload of service users/patients within HMP Buckley Hall. The post holder is required to work with service users from a holistic perspective. We work collaboratively with a range of different professionals/ agencies, including physical health care, probation, prison officers and psychosocial substance misuse services. The role is varied and interesting and the ideal candidate would be resilient, enthusiastic and have excellent time management skills. This position is suitable for experienced or newly qualified RMNs, full training and, if required, preceptorship packages, will be offered.

The role involves working across 7 days per week across the core day.

The post holder will pro-actively contribute to service and practice developments initiatives within the Directorate Business Plan which is a reflection of local and national developments.

Main duties of the job

This is a post for a highly motivated nurse with excellent interpersonal skills, working with a challenging and vulnerable client group.

We are happy to appoint qualified nurses, or nurses that are due to qualify or are in preceptorship and will provide any further training, or personal development required.

Education/Qualification

Essential

Post registration qualification relevant to the role Post registration experience working within a relevant clinical setting

Desirable

In depth knowledge of prison needs in relation to primary care, mental health and addiction support and an ability to work across these areas.

Evidence of professional Development Experience of working within a custodial setting

Recent relevant experience of leading a team

The post holder should: Awareness of professional and clinical accountability, legal issues, role limitations and boundaries and balancing duty of care and public safety issues. Understanding of the application of the mental health act
