At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

EPR-E is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

We are seeking two experienced Project Control Managers to oversee and manage our projects effectively. One of these positions will require regular travel to France, approximately once per month. Please specify in your application whether you would be comfortable with this travel requirement.

As a Project Controls Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our projects through effective management and control mechanisms. Reporting to both the ITBx Managers and the Head of Edvance Project Controls, you will lead a team of Project Controllers, Operational Schedulers, Change and Risk Coordinators.

Pay, benefits and culture…

Alongside a salary from £70,000 to £75,000, we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle, and the opportunity to earn bonus.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you’ll be doing…

Developing and implementing project controls strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient project delivery, cost control, and risk mitigation. Monitoring and evaluating the performance of the project controls team, providing guidance, feedback, and training as necessary to maintain high standards of performance. Facilitating effective communication channels between project stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely dissemination of project information, progress reports, and risk assessments. Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks, working closely with the risk coordinators to develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans. Overseeing the change management process, ensuring that changes to project scope, schedule, and budget are properly documented, assessed for impact, and approved in accordance with project governance procedures. Collaborating with operational schedulers to develop and maintain project schedules, monitoring progress against milestones, and identifying opportunities for schedule optimisation. Ensuring successful preparation for Financial key yearly exercises (LE2, LE3, EAC) and leading the preparation of main contractual exercises (Task order preparation, Work order follow-up).

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve project objectives. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to stakeholders at all levels. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing project challenges. Proficiency in project and cost management software tools (Ecosys, SAP), cost management methodologies (Earned Value Management) and cost control techniques.
