The Bid Director is the ‘controlling mind’ of the bid. Applying strategic insight and commercial acumen to draw information from inside and outside the organisation, ensuring that every bid is the best that it can be at representing the organisations capabilities.

As the Bid Director, you will work as a key member of the growth leadership team in reporting directly into the Managing Director. 

The Bid Director must have the ability to understand and influence a wide range of stakeholders and must be trustworthy, committed, diligent; alongside having the ability to manage through complex and challenging situations. 

This is a highly networked role that requires the ability to work well under pressure and to challenging deadlines. It requires strong people management skills. 

The successful Bid Director will be responsible for: 

Supporting in the development and execution of the Company’s business strategies and objectives whilst developing and delivering external content across all digital media channels. Execution of commercial strategies through nurturing the business to develop each departments value proposition and capabilities to.  Building and nurturing the bid pipeline opportunities. Applying sales leadership, marketing tactics to access and influence service specifications ahead of ITT.  Evaluation of each ITT synergistic alignment with the business capabilities and economic viability before proposing the opportunity to business group executives.  Acting as Bid architect through developing win themes for each tender opportunity through researching the opportunity, working with perspective clients, Internal stakeholders, external key stakeholders, and national trade bodies. Coordination of bid workshops, meetings, method statement story boarding, reviews and business sign off.  Leading the bid process working with the business sponsor to ensure bids are submitted in accordance with ITT instructions and achieve internal sign off from designated internal stakeholders.  Project managing bids through distributing method statements to senior bid writers, executives, ensure story boards, win themes are understood and facilitate regular check-ins. Reviewing Method statements and scoring criteria.  providing feedback, coaching and development of the team. Implementing and developing bidding resource.  Networking and providing insight reports to business leaders. Along with networking with trade bodies and industry regulators. Preparing and delivering presentations and materials and preparing sales and marketing reports for Senior Management teams. Utilising tender feedback and working cross functionally to develop the business value proposition for each business unit. Continually researching key competitor activities and developing initiatives to maintain a competitive advantage. Meeting with all existing customers to explore service development opportunities are aligned to retaining or growing the contracts. Analysing and evaluating the challenges faced by the business and in turn implementing mitigation for potential risks and developing opportunities. Conducting and reviewing market research and analysis to create detailed business plans and exploring the benefits of AI and IM&T solutions. Ensuring the function operates in accordance with any health & safety and environmental policies, procedures, ISO standards and legislation to ensure the safety and well being of staff.

The successful Bid Director will:

Have 5 years’ experience within a similar role. Have a proven and successful experience of hitting targets, year on year. strong financial and written skills, have proven planning and systems management skills and experience of influencing within teams. strong analytical skills and a genuine interest and ability to interpret insights gained from patterns and data. the ability to analyse complex information and data, translating these findings into actionable deliverables, strategies, targets, messages, and presentations. Have excellent verbal and written communication skills ideally with a professional but contemporary writing style, with an extensive vocabulary. Demonstrable and excellent editing and proofing ability. Be deadline driven with effective organisational and time management skills. Ability to thrive in a busy environment and able to multitask and prioritise your workload.  Be familiar with the Microsoft suite of tools and other software which add value to bid creation.

You will also hold the following qualifications:

Appropriate Degree in English, Marketing, Journalism, or business development/bid writing.

It would be desirable but not essential if:

You have NHS and social care bidding experience.  Experience and an understanding of tendering in both the public and commercial sector.
