The Vacancy

We are looking for a CNC Machinist to join our team in the Aldwarke Machining Workshop at our Rotherham site. The Aldwarke Machining Workshop provides engineering machining services along with Aerospace bar and Mill roll turning for the Stocksbridge and Rotherham Liberty Steel sites. The position is an ideal for an apprentice trained machinist who has experience setting, operating and programming CNC machines. We aim to develop the skills of our team members over the range of our machines to make them fully versatile with engineering machining and turning

The Role

This role will contribute to the running of a truly unique metals recycling facility that turns scrap metal into materials for the future through electrical arc furnaces, casting machines, rolling mills and much more. This is a truly diverse manufacturing business looking to innovate traditional manufacturing processes for a more environmentally friendly world using green energy and recycling at its core. Key to this role is being able to work as part of a team but also working on their own interpreting drawings, using metrology instruments and operating a CNC machine. Quality is critical within the team and the applicant must have the ability to produce machining work’ to a consistently high standard of workmanship whilst complying with strict Health and Safety standards and adhering to Department quality procedures. The workshop includes a variety of machines including Mori Seiki CNC NL, SL25, MV65, Tuscan Lathe, Swift CNC Lathe and Broadbent Lathes. The successful applicant will be expected to be fixable in the use of machines Our roles are challenging but rewarding, we encourage team working, problem solving and innovation to keep the manufacturing units running effectively.

Required

The successful candidate must have experience setting, operating, and programming CNC machine tools. Have manual machining practices training and skills (e.g., turning, milling and drilling). Experienced in a Maintenance Machine Shop environment would be an advantage. Be a highly motivated team player with good interpersonal skills along with good communication skills for dealing with internal and external customers. A successful candidate will also punctual. Must be prepared to undertake training in order to carry out their role effectively. Have the confidence to work unsupervised. The candidate will understand and apply risk awareness when planning and undertaking tasks.

This role is a shift role that includes some weekend work.
