Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a SpecialistSpeech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our supportive team and facilitateeffective communication for all.

We have been commissioned by Halton Borough Counciland NHS Cheshire and Merseyside to provide the children and young people's SLTservices in Halton. This includes all elements of universal, targeted andspecialist services.

Weare looking for Specialist SLT to undertake Autism diagnostic assessments as part of the Multi-disciplinary team. The post can focus exclusively in this area or include other specialist caseload activities.

The successful candidate will join our Halton Teamand will work in partnership with children, young people, their families andthe children's workforce. You will be supported by our wider team and will beable to shape both the innovative services in Halton and our organisation as awhole.

Main duties of the job

Thesuccessful candidate will support assessment and interventions for children forwhom we receive a request for specific services. This will include undertaking assessments for children on the Autisticdiagnostic assessment pathway, writing reports with follow the DSM5 and supporting a decision as part of the Multi-disciplinary team.

Ourservices are mostly delivered within Family Hubs and home visits and educational settings andoften involve collaboration with parents, carers and the Multi-agency team.

Our team in Halton consists of: Speech and LanguageTherapist Lead; Specialist, Senior and Junior SLTs; Early Years Teacher; Speechand Language Therapy Assistants; all of whom are supported by a BusinessSupport Team.

Coreresponsibilities.

Toprovide a speech and language therapy services to children, directly andthrough support to their families and the multi-disciplinary team. Providespeech, language and communication assessments for children and young people inconsultation with their families, the multi- disciplinary team and other SLTsand SLTAs. Provideintervention on an individual or group basis as required. Developand demonstrate SLT programmes and groups for pupils. Keepaccurate records and provide written reports. Settargets for therapy and monitor progress. Holdresponsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of theservice, working without direct supervision. Workas a member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the planning,development and delivery of an effective and efficient service. Liaisewith other involved agencies and with families to provide an integrated service. Takefull SLT student placements. Contributeto the recruitment, induction, supervision and support of other, more juniorSLTs, SLTAs and volunteers. Facilitateclinical case discussions. Accessclinical supervision within the team via regular meetings, group and individualsupervision, mentoring and appraisals. Be committedto continuing their professional development. Able to makeindependent decisions about caseload management, service design and manageprojects independently. Lead on theco-ordination and development of clinical services. Delivertraining programmes to others and contribute to the development of training. Contributeto the evaluation and monitoring of services. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Degree or Masters. Registration with RCSLT and HCPC.

Desirable

Training relevant to role, ADOS etc.

Experience

Essential

5+ years experience working as an SLT with children, young people, their families and the Multi-agency team. Experience working with children and young people with an ASD diagnosis. Experience supervising and coaching others.

Desirable

Experience in undertaking Autistic diagnostic assessments and writing reports. Experience in leading other to deliver high quality SLT services. Experience in monitoring service outcomes. Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 suite including Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.
