The Financial Management Department is seeking to recruit a Finance Assistant, to assist the Assistant Finance Manager in the general day to day duties of providing financial support to the Trust's budget holders. The successful candidate will work within a flexible and pro-active team of staff, whose role primarily consists of producing accurate, timely and appropriate financial information, whilst maintaining the Trust's budgetary control and associated systems.
We can offer staff gymnasiums on both hospital sites, excellent pension scheme and advice on childcare.
Main duties of the job
This job description covers a distinct post within the Financial Management department.
Jobholders may be considered to work towards a CCAB (Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies) professional accountancy qualification such as CIMA, ACCA and CIPFA.
The main purpose of this post is to support the Finance Manager and Assistant Finance Manager in the provision of timely and accurate financial information and advice

2 A Levels or equivalent 5 GCSE's (incl Mathematics & English)

AAT Technician level accountancy qualifications (equivalent to NVQ level 3). Degree (minimum or equivalent
Skills
Essential
Enthusiastic and committed, possess initiative and the ability to work well under pressure as part of a team and independently. A high level of planning and organisational skills to manage workload and timescales. Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. Initiative, ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
Knowledge
Essential
High standard of numeracy, analytical and problem solving skills. High levels of computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are essential. (Equivalent to ECDL advanced level). Excellent interpersonal & communications skills to, communicate financial issues to non-finance staff and manage conflict situations sensitively.
Desirable
Knowledge / experience of using a General Ledger system Detailed understanding of accounting procedures. Notably: payroll, payables, financial ledger system, reconciliations, coding structures, income and expenditure analysis. Knowledge / experience of using Oracle 11i General Ledger system-
