Job summary

This is an exciting development role for 12 months supporting our practice development team to facilitate, implement and maintain the use of JETS workforce training programme for all Endoscopy staff. You will also be involve in support staff to complete competencies

Main duties of the job

To work under the direction ofthe Endoscopy Practice Development team (PDT) to upskill the endoscopyworkforce. To facilitate, implement andmaintain the use of JETS Workforce training programme for all Endoscopy staffin line with JAG requirements. To produce and evaluate monthlyreports demonstrating the progress and impact of the role of a PDTA. To organise Unit basededucational programs related to identified training needs. To liaise with the relevantpersons to identify resources and opportunities for education and training Other practice educators and Centre of clinical practice re allocation ofcontracts for courses and corporate nursing team. To facilitate learning throughthe creation of an educationally stimulating environment. To be aware of the educationalneeds of post-registration nurses ensuring that preceptors are available. To develop and evaluateorientation programmes for all grades of staff. To act as a role model of expertclinical practice as both an informal and formal teacher/facilitator To deputise for the PracticeDevelopment team in their absence. To be able to work countywide asrequired by the directorate and service needs. To participate in the on callrota for the Directorate covering emergency services based at Worcester RoyalHospital or Alexandra Hospital Redditch if current role requires on callcommitment.

Job responsibilities

To lead the continuingdevelopment of excellent, evidence based learning with the Endoscopy Unit.

To work clinically with all staffgroups in a supportive or facilitating role in response to identified learningneeds

To work with the Endoscopynursing staff on audit to ensure the development of a multi-professionalprogramme of clinical audit

Ensure good communication/collaborationwith the Unit with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients andrelatives. This includes documenting relevant and accurate information withinthe Patient Record.

Ensure the team is aware of new policies and procedures andhow to access the latest versions. Disseminate any changes in policies andprocedure in a timely manner.

Facilitate the implementation ofkey standards in the Endoscopy Unit and compliance with JAG accreditation

Ensure professional standards aremaintained in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct.

Work with the PracticeDevelopment team in the development of relevant clinical guidance, policies andprotocols.

Keep relevant records and submitreports in a professionally acceptable manner

Promote a positive relationshipwith all stakeholders.

Identify and act appropriatelyregarding incidents of poor practice

Role model standards of care andmaintain standards of conduct and behaviours consistent with trust and NMCguidelines.

Ensure visibility within clinicalareas externally and internally.

Contribute to formulatingguidelines and pathways in the Endoscopy unit.

Contribute to change processesthrough leadership, research, education, training and clinical practice.

Assist in the dissemination ofnational information, policies, guidelines and practice changes that may impactupon the patient care pathway

Coordinate the unit in the eventof a major incident.

Attend national/internationalconference in order to raise the profile of the services, share knowledge andlearn from best practice in other services.

Participate in recruiting andretaining a work force qualified to meet the needs of endoscopy patients. Thismay include nursing staff, support workers, administrative staff andhousekeeping staff.

To co-ordinate staff induction,retention initiatives and preceptors and mentor development.

Attend Unit and Trust meetingswhere specialist knowledge is of benefit to colleagues and the hospital

Maintain a safe and acceptableenvironment for patients, visitors, students and staff, reporting and takingappropriate action on any hazards, incidents, fault equipment or inadequatestandard of cleaning. Co-ordinate the reporting of all such incidents for thearea in liaison with the Clinical Nurse Lead.

Support and facilitate themanagement of change.

Ensure that the information needsof the unit are maintained and developed by developing IT skills in self andothers.

Collect data and provideessential information in a timely and accurate manner as requested by the trustmanagement teams. This could include dependency studies manpower and a varietyof audits.

Work with policies and proceduresratified within the Trust and Unit. Become familiar with new policies andprocedures and know how to access them as required.

Develop and maintain effectivecommunication systems both within and outside the trust and create anenvironment that encourages open communication and trust

Be aware of cost implicationsassociated with the service and ensure effective use of resources.

Attend and contribute to clinicalteam meetings.

To act as a role model of expertclinical practice within the Endoscopy Unit and to continue to develop ownclinical expertise within the speciality

Liaise with the PracticeDevelopment Team to assist in the implementation of all national and localnursing policies and initiatives.

Represent the trust local andnationally, participating in and speaking at conferences and study days onissues relating to the work of the unit.

Facilitate development of teammembers in their professional and educational role.

Collaborate with the Matronregarding practice development/innovation and the dissemination and marketingof Endoscopy Unit both internally and throughout the care network.

Participate in and facilitatepublication and presentations related to the work of Endoscopy unit.
