This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing servicewithin the Community Directorate.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated registerednurse educated to degree level to join the adult bladder and bowelservice.

The base for this post will be Innovation House, BishopAuckland, this is a Countywide Community post so locality work will be requiredaccording to service need. This roleinvolves a mixture of working within clinics, home visits, care homes andoffice environment.

The post will allow you to work in a specialist service anddevelop specialist skills / knowledge and expertise in bladder and boweldysfunction. This is an excitingopportunity to become part of an innovative and forward thinking communitybased team. You will make a valuable contribution to the way local bladder andbowel services are organised and delivered in order to provide high quality,cost effective services to people living in County Durham and Darlington.

The role is supportive of family friendly hoursworking predominantly Monday to Friday (day hours, eg: 08:30-16:30.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have a passion for deliveringhigh quality care to people with bladder and bowel dysfunction. You will be dynamicand caring with excellent communication skills as patient education and supportis an important component of the job.

Prior experience and an indepth knowledge of issues in complex bladder and bowel dysfunction is essential as is the promotion of continencecare.

Working autonomously to triage, allocate work tasks, adhere todealines in order to provide highquality evidence based care.

Experience of change management,quality improvement process and recent on going nursing development is arequirement.

Knowledge of budgetary control,IQEW and clinical supervision is also a requirement of the post.

Clinicalcommunity experience would be desirable as would a knowledge of appraisal andHR skills, but not essential

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Assessment and management of patients with complex bladderand/or bowel dysfunction.

Performing clinics and home visits within County Durham andDarlington, these will be a combination of telephone and face to faceassessments and reviews.

Leadership and management of the service and staff asrequired in the absence of Lead Nurses.

Contribute to service and policy development as well asbeing able to provide education and training.

Qualifications

Essential

Teaching certificate or equivalent Evidence of continuing professional development at post grad level IT skills In depth knowledge of complex issues in bladder & bowel dysfunction

Desirable

Independent / Community prescribing qualification Leadership / Management development course (or willing to undertake) Knowledge of budgetary control
