Description The role of the Buying Assistant - Indirect, is to Support the Buyer(s), Senior Buyer(s) and Indirect Procurement Manager in their roles relating to operational procurement activity. Crucial to the success of this role is supporting the function by way of Administration, Housekeeping and Continuous Improvement.

This would be the ideal opportunity for someone with some administration or purchasing experience to build a career in procurement.  Operating in a small team, this role will create a space to learn and grow quickly, if you are organised and a good relationship builder.
Key Responsibilities
  • Creating and maintaining key procurement parameters within our ERP System.
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding delivery times,
  • Converting Purchase Requisitions to Purchase Orders and interacting with Suppliers as necessary for order acknowledgment.
  • In conjunction with the Finance department, checking invoices against Purchase Orders / Delivery Notes prior to approval / sign-off by functional heads.
  • Maintain and Update Vendor Contacts and SRM database information.
  • Contract Renewal Tracking
  • Support on Business KPIs and housekeeping
  • Departmental Inbox(es) Management
  • To ensure all activities undertaken are in line with current policies and procedures.
  • To assist in day to day running of the Purchasing Department and all activities associated with it.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, GCSEs Level A-C, NVQ Level 2
  • Analytical, numerically astute, with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Computer literate – Microsoft office suite
