This position is an opportunity for a Java Engineer to join one of our teams; working on solutions for both Cardmembers and their friends. Primary responsibilities of the role would include designing and developing new APIs to enhance our multiple experiences, writing associated unit tests and partnering with our product owners to define and deliver on our backlog.

How will you make an impact in this role?

Perform all technical aspects of software development for assigned applications, including developing prototypes, writing new code and creating API's Identifying opportunities for adopting new technologies Owning accountability for the delivery of quality code that is fully tested and scalable Work with Product Owners to define requirements for new features, contribute to product roadmaps and plan increments of work Design and build integration components and interfaces in collaboration with Architects and Infrastructure Engineers as necessary Collaborate with other Engineering teams within the enterprise; finding opportunities to educate and learn from them

Minimum Qualifications: 

Two years or more experience of working with Java and Spring Experience with TDD practices and test frameworks such as Junit / Mockito Knowledge of HTTP best practices Knowledge of RESTful API and microservice design patterns CICD and build tools experience, e.g., GitHub, NPM and Jenkins  Demonstrated experience of working with a team of Engineers Hands-on experience with aspects of application design and software development Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related Engineering or Science degree Experience in Agile methodologies Experience in relational data modelling and analysis techniques Familiarity with one or more data-storage technologies. E.g. RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, etc), document databases (Cassandra DB, MongoDB, etc), search engines (Elasticsearch, Apache Solr, etc) Strong communication skills - able to explain technical concepts to designers, product managers and business partners in ways that are meaningful to them

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of a front end Javascript framework e.g., React, Angular Deploying to a Cloud platform and working with associated tools (e.g. Docker, Openshift) Performance and monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk, Dynatrace, ELK) Experience with the reactive programming model (e.g. Spring Webflux/Reactor, RxJava)
