EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will support all mechanical studies and be responsible for various tasks. These include responding to site queries, conducting mechanical stress analyses, engaging with stakeholders, proposing modifications, and ensuring compliance with Edvance’s QA procedures while collaborating with CAD designers to prepare design drawings.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll gather input data, analyse, and update hypothesis notes, and prepare loading description reports.

You’ll engage with various stakeholders, such as installation contractors and other disciplines, to clarify issues and perform mechanical stress analyses, including piping flexibility and support calculations.

You’ll propose modifications if sizing criteria aren’t met and close open points and comments.

Additionally, you’ll assess and integrate modifications from stakeholders, conduct hand calculations, run anchorages macros, and check calculation notes and guide drawings subcontracted to external companies.

You’ll also propose study improvements, maintain Edvance’s QA procedures, and collaborate with CAD designers in preparing design drawings.

Who you are

Being a Mechanical Engineer at EDF means having a solid foundation in science and mechanical engineering, coupled with a deep understanding of industry standards like EUROCODE, ASME, and RCC-M.

Proficiency in 2D and 3D design software such as PDMS, NavisWorks, PIPESTRESS, RSTAB, and ANSYS APDL/Workbench is essential.

Experience in nuclear engineering, particularly in building NI, CI & BoP structures, and familiarity with the HPC project or previous EPR studies are highly valued.
