The Board of Electors to the Professorship of Translational Auditory Neuroscience invites applications from individuals known internationally for their research record in translational auditory neuroscience for hearing device users, and medical device translation.

Cambridge is a growing centre for hearing and vision research and is looking to further the applied and translational auditory neuroscience research programme to help with the understanding of sensory loss and the impact on perception. The research programme is expected to develop diagnostic objective and behavioural measures of hearing function, create novel adaptations to current medical devices based on neurological function and perception, and produce tailored interventions to help deaf adults and children.

We are seeking candidates who have:

An outstanding track record of securing competitive research funding and publishing high quality papers focused on understanding the impact of auditory loss on perception with hearing devices, and the development of diagnostic measures of hearing function for both adults and paediatric hearing device users The vision, leadership experience and enthusiasm to develop and maintain a leading research presence, and effectively manage a research team An enthusiastic commitment to the recruitment, teaching, training, and mentoring of the next generation of researchers, including research students (taught MPhil and PhDs) and postdoctoral researchers Experience in translating laboratory-based research into real-world clinical benefits Enthusiastic commitment to the recruitment, teaching, training, andmentoring of the next generation of researchers, including research students (MPhil and PhDs) and postdoctoral researchers Training and teaching of academic clinicians Experience in translating laboratory-based research into clinical practice.

The successful candidate will be expected to fulfil standard professorial duties include teaching and research, examining, supervision and administration. A competitive salary will be offered. We are open to considering flexible and part-time working arrangements.
