Your Role

Through understanding the needs of the people you support, you’ll run a busy kitchen that provides exceptional meals that truly changes lives. A career with meaning, you’ll also have a lot of fun with creating exciting menu choices and leading the kitchen.

As the Cook Supervisor you will be responsible for the meal preparation offering healthy, balanced and calorie related meals Ensuring creative menu planning dependant on supported individuals likes/dislikes and support needs in relation to their PWS. Ordering of Provisions, general upkeep and cleanliness of the kitchen. Ensuring the correct documentation is in place to secure a good food hygiene rating with the ‘Food Standards Agency’. Supervising other kitchen staff as well as conducting supervisions, appraisals and taking lead in the day to day running of the kitchen.

Gretton House is set in a quiet, calm village but is always busy and bustling with fun. The people we support are at the heart of everything we do. They are supported to get involved with their home, learning new life skills and take the lead on the care and support they receive – which can include getting in the kitchen with the chef who prepares nutritious meals and encourages everyone to join in with understanding their diet and how to make healthy choices to support their PWS.

The next step will be an interview in the service, where you’ll meet the team and the people we support. If successful, we’ll organise your Free DBS Check and references prior to confirming your start date. Your journey will then begin with a 3-day online induction, before heading to the service to get started.

You may be new to care, or already have experience in the social care sector or NHS (Mental Health Support Worker, Care Worker, Healthcare Assistant or Care Assistant). As long as you come with a person-centred approach, a caring nature, and you are able to demonstrate a commitment to working as part of a team to support disabled and autistic people – then we’re here to provide you with the training and knowledge needed to succeed.
