Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

We are looking to recruit Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to join four of our Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) within Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) in Nottinghamshire. We currently have vacancies within our Broxtowe, Gedling, Newark, and Rushcliffe CMHTs, with opportunity to work part time, or full time across Teams. Posts are advertised at Band 8a, however we welcome applications from applicants who are approaching qualification, newly qualified or if you are interested in a preceptorship arrangement.

MHSOP is an established Care Unit within the Trust and psychology is highly valued within this. We are engaged in a number of service development programmes, including pathways for psychological therapies, SMI and complex emotional needs. In parallel, the Care Unit is reviewing the provision of psychologically informed care, staff training to support this work and embedding new roles to facilitate the delivery of psychological interventions at different levels. Psychologists are integral to this process, and you would both support and participate in these developments.

Main duties of the job

There is a strong and developing network of Clinical, Counselling, Forensic and other Applied Psychologists across the Trust, facilitated by an Associate Director for Psychological Professions. We have excellent relationships with local professional training courses and academic institutions, which also provides further research, supervision and teaching opportunities. In addition, the MHSOP Care Unit promotes the importance of professional development. We have recently been able to provide access to post-qualification specialist training, alongside regular established CPD.

The CMHTs provide community based assessment and interventions for older people with a variety of mental health needs and people with a diagnosis of dementia. They also have links with the Memory Assessment Service (MAS), Young Onset Dementia team (YOD), Dementia Outreach Service (DOS) and the Intensive Home Treatment Teams (IHTT).

Clinical work within the team will include providing direct psychological and neuropsychological assessment and interventions. In addition, you would support the delivery of psychologically informed care and care planning through case discussions, MDT meetings, supervision, training and consultation.
