Job summary

Graduate/ band 5 dietitian

We can offer experiences in bothgeneral and specialist dietetic areas in a friendly and supportive environment.As a department of 25 dietitians across two general hospital sites, we canoffer shadowing and learning practical skills in general and specialist areasat band 5 level. Our experienced team contributes to national dieteticspecialist groups, publishes articles and presents at the BDA researchsymposium/ clinical conferences.

This post will offer graduates,or established band 5 dietitians, opportunities to work and develop theirskills in frailty, trauma and orthopaedics, oncology, stroke, gastroenterology,ITU, nutrition team, paediatrics and renal. You will be based at the AlexandraHospital, Redditch and this will give you the opportunity to become part of theteam within that particular hospital. The successful candidate will need to becapable of independent travel to provide cover for other band 5 team members atWorcestershire Royal Hospital, when required.

We actively encourage audit andservice development, and offer mentoring programmes, CPD, and regular teammeetings. You will be involved in student training as we offer CoventryUniversity A, B, C student placements. Band 5s also undertake various talks topatient groups and clinical staff. General outpatient clinics are available ifyou would like to combine both inpatient and outpatient work.

Main duties of the job

To manage a caseload of patients offeringevidence-based dietetic advice and/or patient centred principles withindesignated ward areas and in out-patient clinics.

To provide dietetic intervention to patients on awide range of therapeutic diets in a timely way by working as a member of thedietetic team and other health care professionals.

Totake responsibility for prioritising and managing workload, seeking guidancefrom senior staff whenever required.

Totrain and update healthcare professionals on nutrition related topics.

Tocontribute to the Therapy Clinical Governance agenda to further improve thequality of the service.

Toprovide dietetic advice to patients at 3 hospital sites including groupeducation sessions to help deliver a responsive dietetic service provision.
