Milton Keynes, United Kingdom Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job overview

The national direction of travel, outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan, is towards the provision of more integrated, personalised and place based care. In line with this vision, CNWL have created multidisciplinary, health and social care Community Mental Health Hubs, with a single hub in Milton Keynes working closely with Primary Care Networks. This post will be a member of the Milton Keynes Community Mental Health Hub delivering care to the population of Milton Keynes. The Milton Keynes Community Mental Health Hub is made up of three pathways; Therapy pathway, Psychosocial pathway, and Diagnosis and Condition Management pathway.

This role would be based within the Therapies pathway within the Hub. Therapies offer interventions in a stepped care approach for a wide range of needs, broadly summarised as mood problems, trauma, psychosis, and complex emotional needs (clients who may have attracted a diagnosis of personality disorder). We have a very established team working specifically with clients who present with complex emotional needs. This includes the delivery of MBT verbal, MBT art, and DBT. We recognise the importance of gaining experience with a variety of presentations and therefore, depending on interests, the post-holder would also be supported to work with clients who present with complex trauma, complex mood, and psychosis difficulties.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist psychological/therapeutic assessments of service-users referred to the Therapies pathway upon appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources. This will include the use of routine psychometric assessments and measures, observations and interviews where appropriate.

To undertake risk assessment and risk management for all service-users in attendance within the service, including the protective and risk factors present in the network of significant relationships.

To develop skills in the area of professional post-graduate teaching, training and supervision.

To maintain professional registration.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work collaboratively with the leads for the pathways within the Mental Health Hub and other areas of the mental health service across Milton Keynes The post holder will lead on developing and delivering the brief and longer-term psychological interventions for service users.
