As a Software Engineer, you’ll lead in the development of new software features for a critical National Security product and continued updates to operating systems and third-party packages. This’ll be achieved by working closely with the services team to address problems and interacting with the customers technical teams to understand new requirements.
Roke is a leading technology & engineering company with clients spanning National Security, Defence and Industry 4.0 through our Futures business and Intelligence as a Service. You will work alongside our customers to solve their complex and unique challenges.
Your software engineering your activities will also include providing technical training internally, technical consultancy to customers and porting products to new hardware platforms when required. All completed with the purpose of advancing the customer mission and ensuring the safety and prosperity of the U.K.
The Key Requirements...
You will primarily be working with:
- Application Software development for Linux including languages such as C++, Python or Javascript
- Network protocols
- Socket programming.
It would be useful, although not necessary if you had exposure to any of the below:
- Redhat-based Linux variants such as Rocky 9
- Web based technologies such as React and Django
- SQL databases, ideally PostgreSQL
- Testing and diagnostics using a range of tools such as Robot Framework, Jenkins or Gitlab.
Built over a 60-year heritage, Roke offers specialist knowledge in sensors, communications, cyber, and AI and ML. We change the way organisations think and act through dynamic insights from the analysis of multiple layers of data. We take care of the innovative, technical stuff that keeps everyone safe that’s our mission, passion, and motivation.
Joining a team united by purpose and ambition, you’ll be at the heart of an exciting growth journey: having doubled in size over the last 4 years, we intend to double our headcount by 2027. At Roke, every individual counts. We push technical boundaries, together. We re-invest in product innovation, and we empower our people to make a difference.
With us you’ll fix, develop and advance product that is an essential component of the U’K.’s critical national infrastructure; an opportunity for your work to have enduring impact.
Where you’ll work
You’ll find our Romsey site located within beautiful Hampshire countryside, close to the picturesque New Forest District and not far from a superb stretch of the south coast.
