Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a person with a high degree of organisational ability and self -motivation who would enjoy the challenge of being part of a busy, award winning team that will deliver community based cardiology services across the Wirral.

The management of cardiovascular disease is a priority for the Community Trust and this post will contribute towards supporting the clinical and admin team in developing a community cardiology service for the evolving needs of the Wirral population.

Main duties of the job

The post will require performing ECGs, fitting various diagnostic devices, taking basic measurements such as height, weight and blood pressure. Excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a team and to direction is essential. Using initiative and having excellent organisation skills is key. Team work is a major feature of this role and the ability to work and communicate with a diverse and multidisciplinary team. The post will involve covering colleagues work during periods of absence and may include some evening work. Training will be provided as required.

Job responsibilities

This is a patient and public facing role, applicants must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly across the different locations were Community Cardiology clinics are delivered.

Main responsibilities include carrying out diagnostic tests, programming and fitting ambulatory monitors, plus preparing patients to be clinically assessed by the services doctors and specialist nurses.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Essential

Evidence of maths, English & ITT competencies Evidence of further training, ECG study day, Venepuncture, NVQ Level 2/3 Up to date BLS and ILS certification

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

Current experience of working within a clinical team Ability to use own initiative and to act in critical circumstances identifying and acting upon abnormal results critically abnormal ECG

Desirable

Evidence of competence and recent working with specialist investigations 12 lead Resting ECGs, Spirometry, 24 Hour ECG Holter Monitoring, 24 Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor Fittings, Cardio memo Event Recorders Knowledge and interest in cardiovascular disease and health promotion

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Essential

Evidence of team working and working under direction Ability to multi task in a busy, challenging and expanding department ed physical skills, accuracy important with hand/eye co-ordination accuracy required when performing tests Good IT skills and ability to use various software packages and systems to facilitate patient care including the downloading and uploading of data.
