What will the successful candidate be doing:

There are a number of positions being advertised which are for Lead Engineer Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineer.

Role Purpose
Supporting Lead Manufacturing Engineers in the implementation of the Manufacturing Products Organisation (MPO) strategy, ensuring efficient manufacturing and assembly of nuclear waste containers to meet quality and schedule requirements at scale.

Deliverables for Lead Manufacturing Engineer
•Leads a team of Manufacturing Engineers who are the primary point of contact for Manufacturing aspects of the MPOs Portfolio of Products. Acting as a deputy to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager as required.
•Maintain oversight of manufactured products throughout their lifecycle, from New Product Introduction (NPI) to steady-state manufacturing, guaranteeing consistent adherence to product specifications.
•Challenge and improve working practices by contributing to the development and enhancement of standards, frameworks, and tools, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
•Offer technical guidance and assistance to Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) across the range of manufactured products, addressing complex manufacturing challenges.
•Serve as the Nominated Point of Contact (NPOC) responsible for approving Engineering Queries related to assigned product(s), ensuring compliance with quality standards and be primary point of contact for Manufacturing aspects of assigned products, ensuring technical understanding and alignment across teams and suppliers.
•Support the development of a highly skilled manufacturing engineering workforce within Sellafield, aligning with organisational goals and objectives. Identify training needs and promote best practices within the team.
•Represent MPO as a manufacturing Subject Matter Expert (SME), collaborating with manufacturers and interface with internal teams and external regulatory bodies to enhance and sustain manufacturing processes. Review and approve manufacturing submissions such as, process flow diagrams and equipment requirements. Driving continuous improvement and addressing negative trends whilst ensuring adherence to standards.
•Stay updated on industry standards, best practices, and technological advancements in manufacturing through networking and training initiatives. Challenge and contribute to the development of Sellafield standards, frameworks, and methods to promote industry best practices.
•Serve as the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) coordinator, guiding products through the Sellafield New Product Introduction (NPI) process to consistently meet specifications,
•Collaborate with manufacturers to enhance and sustain manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement, and addressing negative trends.
•Provide Manufacturing Engineering input for product interfaces, maintenance, and support, ensuring alignment with technical standards and user requirements.
•Manage manufacturing process Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and contribute to supplier evaluation for tenders.

What will the successful candidate be doing (continued):

Deliverables for Manufacturing Engineer
•Serve as the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) co-ordinator, guiding products through the Sellafield New Product Introduction (NPI) process to consistently meet specifications.
•Review and approve manufacturing submissions to Sellafield, ensuring adherence to standards for elements such as process flow diagrams and equipment requirements.
•Ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes are understood and accounted for with interfacing teams (SMEs, Design, Plant Teams, etc), partners and suppliers.
•Collaborate with manufacturers to enhance and sustain manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement, and addressing negative trends.
•Provide Manufacturing Engineering input for product interfaces, maintenance, and support, ensuring alignment with technical standards and user requirements.
•Manage manufacturing process Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and contribute to supplier evaluation for tenders.
•Point of contact, within Integrated Product Team (IPT), for Manufacturing aspects of assigned products, ensuring technical understanding and alignment across teams and suppliers.
•Challenge and contribute to the development of Sellafield standards, frameworks, and methods to promote industry best practices.
•Stay updated on standards, best practices, and technological advancements in manufacturing through training and professional development opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for people with the following:
•Higher level qualification in a relevant manufacturing discipline or equivalent level of experience.
•Knowledge and experience of the five core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC) to deliver product development projects from concept to full production.
•Knowledge and experience of a variety of manufacturing processes.
•Knowledge and demonstrable experience of geometric drawing tolerancing
•Demonstrable experience of delivering continuous improvements and root cause analysis, using recognised tools, , Six Sigma, Lean, Ishikawa, etc
•SC Clearance or ability to achieve.
•European Computer Driving License (ECDL) or equivalent experience.

Essential Skills:
•Higher level qualification in a relevant manufacturing discipline or equivalent level of experience.
•Knowledge and experience of a variety of manufacturing processes.
•Demonstrable experience of leading continuous improvements and root cause analysis, using recognised tools, , Lean, Ishikawa, etc.
•Experience of leading a team of engineers.

Desirable Skills:
•Knowledge and demonstrable experience of geometric drawing tolerancing
•Knowledge and demonstrable experience of design for manufacture, including 3D modelling and 2D drafting
•Knowledge of ISO GPS and associated standards.
•Knowledge and experience of the five core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC) to deliver product development projects from concept to full production.
