Job summary

Epsom Maternity is looking to recruit a newly created Housekeeper role. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, organised person to work with the clinical team in our lovely unit to deliver a calm, clean, organised and welcoming environment to our families.

This new role is an excellent opportunity for our new housekeeper to impact the existing clinical team positively

Main duties of the job

To support the team in ensuring stock is stored and maintained safely and efficiently. Liaise with stores to ensure stock levels are maintained and the store room is kept tidy. Carry out regular stock take and order stock as necessary

Check equipment and send any broken equipment to Electronic Medical Equipment or Equipment Library

To demonstrate compassion with patients, carers, staff and visitors. Welcome families and visitors onto the ward safely and securely

To provide cleaning services as part of a team to all clinical and non-clinical areas within the unit

Qualifications

Essential

Numeracy and Literacy to level 2

Desirable

NVQ Level 2 in housekeeping Computer literate

Experience

Essential

Experience in use of cleaning materials and equipment Experience in general cleaning duties Experience of working or volunteering in a health care environment

Desirable

Experience cleaning in a hospital environment

Skills

Essential

Able to follow protocols and instructions Able to demonstrate safe, efficient and effective techniques in the following areas, producing consistently high standards: - Cleaning - Deep cleaning (within agreed timescale) - Use of motorised cleaning equipment floor scrubber, carpet cleaner (within agreed timescale) Effective verbal and written communication skills Time management and the ability to re-prioritise as necessary Ability to escalate concerns in a timely manner to the nurse in charge
