About the role

We are recruiting for 2 Forensic Rope Technician to join our established team based at Doncaster. As part of a team of 18 this role will be integral to the on-going development of our products and will offer the opportunity to develop and learn our own Bekaert standards, whilst forging a career within a niche industry. This role is not just lab based it will include first hand shop floor experience use of various equipment and power tools in order to cut to size to carry out tests and sampling.

Responsibilities

As a Forensic Rope Technician you will

Disassemble products Carry out product investigations including performing structured disassembly of products and record observations during the process Prepare samples and perform a range of mechanical tests including tensile, torsion and reverse bends Carry out sample preparation of steel specimens for micro-structural examination Perform micro and macro examination of steel specimens Perform data collection and analysis Report results using digital image capture techniques and Microsoft tools Ability to produce comprehensive technical reports on the findings from the investigations Provide support to the Forensic Investigations Manager as required

It is expected that the Forensic Technician will be able to complete and provide timely written reports and various testing and examinations of products without continuous supervision.

About You

Essential skills & competencies

Hands on experience of working with wire, wire rope and or fibre rope products not essential but it is an advantage. Basic knowledge of test methodology applied to evaluate the condition of wire, wire and fibre rope products or composite & metal products would be an advantage Must be able to conduct mechanical tests on steel products Must be able to safely disassemble wire rope samples and work within the safety standards of BBRG Experience of practical laboratory techniques, either in the workplace or from college/university 5 GCSE’s grade C or above, including science, mathematics and English Basic knowledge and ability in the use of Microsoft Office which would include word and excel Ability to effectively communicate is essential
