We have an exciting opportunity to join Certas Energy as Head of Sustainability based in our office in Warrington.


As Head of Sustainability you will lead and drive the sustainability strategy, initiatives, and performance for the Certas group. This includes setting goals, targets, and policies related to environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, carbon emissions reduction (Scope 1, 2, and 3), waste management, and regulatory compliance. The role also involves stakeholder engagement, sustainability reporting and disclosure, advocacy and lobbying efforts (particularly around renewable liquid fuels like HVO), as well as fostering a sustainability culture and mindset across the organization. Serve as the subject matter expert and strategic leader responsible for integrating sustainability principles and practices throughout the Company's operations, products, and services.

Are you the next Head of Sustainability at Certas Energy? We're looking for:

  • Senior/ experienced, conversant with both strategy and data.
  • Degree educated on science, data related degree with relevant experience at senior level
  • Transdisciplinary competencies to be as conversant on gender pay gap as credentials of the HVO product
  • Leadership, strategy, oversight scope 1. 2 and 3, articulate competencies to discuss/ debate on science-based targets, offsetting, energy reduction, supply chain assurance and areas such as feedstock etc
  • Knowledge of legislations such as carbon reporting (SECR) Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), new EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) which has just come into force.
  • Conversant with ISO standards, particularly ISO 50001
  • Understanding and judgement on greenwashing risk.
  • Previous experience in sector discussions, Haulage companies/ key customers and panel discussions
  • Robust understanding of renewables, biofuels, HVO and can represent HVO/ product credentials accurately and well
  • Robust understanding of carbon accounting, sustainability schemes, low carbon fuels
