Location: London, Bristol, Manchester

Requirements

As a Principal Enterprise Architect, you will define and shape the digital architecture that will drive technological transformation across the organization and its partners. Your role will ensure that our systems are interoperable, scalable, and secure while providing a clear roadmap for future technological advancements. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing a 10-year vision and strategy for the organization’s digital architecture, focusing on how systems will interact and share information.
  2. Identifying and establishing architectural principles, guidelines, and governance, and leading a team of technologists to embed these standards across the organization.
  3. Collaborating with vendors to create a dynamic market of shared capabilities and working with procurement teams on commercial engagements.
  4. Building a strong network of peers and stakeholders across the organization and industry to share knowledge and best practices.
  5. Promoting your work through content creation, speaking engagements, and community events to drive awareness and adoption of the digital architecture strategy.
  6. Upskilling team members and other stakeholders in your area of expertise through coaching and mentoring.

The above list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and the role holder will be expected to undertake additional tasks as required within the scope and grading of the position.


Essential Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in enterprise architecture.
  • A minimum of 5 years of residence in the UK to ensure familiarity with the local market and regulatory environment.
  • Candidates must either hold current SC clearance or be eligible and willing to undergo the SC clearance process.

Who You Are

We are looking for someone with:

  • A proven track record in setting a vision and leading digital and data transformation initiatives.
  • Extensive experience in designing and building technology solutions, with the ability to build credibility with stakeholders, evaluate proposals, and determine execution strategies.
  • Experience engaging with suppliers and vendors both formally and informally to drive value and innovation.
  • Confidence in presenting to senior stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, including C-suite executives.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and the ability to share knowledge effectively through coaching and mentoring.

Technical Skills

You will be assessed against the following technical skills at the Principal Enterprise Architect level:

  • Architecting for the Whole Context: Understanding how societal trends and industry practices impact the organization.
  • Architecture Communication: Gaining support from business and technical stakeholders for initiatives with high levels of risk, impact, and complexity.
  • Commercial Perspective: Identifying strategic approaches for procuring technology solutions.
  • Enterprise Architecture: Collaborating beyond the organization to influence technology, people, and processes to achieve objectives.
  • Making Architectural Decisions: Making informed decisions characterized by high complexity.
  • Strategy Design: Developing a technical vision that extends across multiple organizations or sectors.

A strong understanding of cloud technologies is essential, ideally with a relevant architecture qualification from a cloud provider.
