Role: Senior Support Worker - Residential Childcare

Location: Glossop

Salary: £13.44 - £14.46 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (including sleep-ins)

About the Role

Leader Health & Social Care is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and caring individual on behalf of our client to join a dedicated team committed to providing the highest level of support for young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring Safety and Well-being: Provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment, addressing the care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs of each young person.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, supervise, and support junior staff members to deliver consistent, high-quality care, in line with the Home's standards and Statement of Purpose.
  • Operational Support: Assist the management team in adhering to policies, procedures, and record-keeping protocols, ensuring resources are used effectively.
  • Shift Management: Cover various shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, and sleep-ins, and participate in residential trips as required.
  • Liaison and Advocacy: Work closely with senior management, local authorities, schools, healthcare professionals, and other external parties to advocate for and promote the welfare of the young people.
  • Cultural Promotion: Foster an inclusive workplace culture that values every team member's contribution and actively challenges discrimination.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality in all aspects of your work.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience: Previous experience in children's residential care settings or similar environments.
  • Leadership: Demonstrable experience in leading shifts or teams.
  • Qualifications: Level 3/4 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is required for senior roles.
  • Commitment: Ability to work full-time, including sleep-ins, and participate in residential trips.
  • Driving: Must hold a valid manual vehicle driving license.
