About the Role

Larksfield and Arlesey medical partnership is looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist into our busy practice, to support our nursing team - this role is for 25 hours per week. 

Working under the direction of the clinical team and as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team, the post-holder will be responsible for performing tasks to include:

Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols to assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care;
Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples; Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample; Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible; Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff; Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues; Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

About the Candidate If you are an experienced phlebotomist looking for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications: Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification or experience; Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture; Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care; Ability to record accurate clinical notes; Consistently confidential, compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues; Ability to communicate effectively, and to understand the needs of the patient; Strength in problem-solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required; Flexibility and an adaptable approach; Commitment to ongoing professional development.

About Us We have a patient population of approx. 19,500 across our main site (Larksfield) and branch site (Arlesey Medical Centre). We have an excellent clinical and administration team with a highly skilled MDT team including GPs, nurse practitioners, clinical pharmacist, paramedic practitioners, practice nursing team and HCAs.
