Job summary

The role of AHP Team lead / Band 7 Physio is in place to develop the palliative Rehabilitation services at Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care. You will work across sites between Watford and St Albans so a car and driving licence will be essential. You will be responsible for a team of Allied Health professionals; physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, who cover our in-patient hospice, outpatients department and community. You will therefore need to demonstrate your abilities in the following areas:Experience in managing a team.Proactive approach to service development.Excellent, patient first assessment skills.Confident in building relationships with external partners and agencies.Confident in using a QI (Quality Improvement) approach to change.Ability to undertake challenging conversations to reach constructive outcomes.To oversee caseloads and assist with prioritisation within the team.Evidence of managing and supporting complex palliative care patients and their loved ones.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the coordination and day to day management of the outpatient and inpatient therapy servicesDirect management and support for rehabilitation and allied health professionals, assistant practitioners, and volunteers.Directing and implementing the delivery of a range of services and interventions that offer choice, safe care for patients and their loved ones earlier in their palliative care journey.Acting as a Rennie Grove Peace ambassador within the community.Supporting the Head of Outpatients to deliver the RRP strategy in outpatients with a focus on rehabilitative palliative care.

Job responsibilities

Qualifications

Essential

Physiotherapy degree or equivalent and HCPC registration

Desirable

CSP Registration

Experience

Essential

Significant post registration experience in relevant health or social care setting Working with patients and families who have long term conditions and palliative care needs. Involvement in audit and research.

Desirable

Experience of leading and motivating teams of volunteers. Previous experience in palliative care.

Additional Criteria

Essential

Strong understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality. Knowledge on the impact of loss and dying for Patients, Carers, Families and Staff. A good understanding of technology with a working knowledge of Microsoft office packages ie Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of System one a bonus. Able to build good working relationships. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills. Good administrative and record keeping skills and able to work with good attention to detail. Strong organisational skill and Quality improvement experience with the ability to implement change. Sensitivity and understanding to the needs of the volunteers and customers, many of whom may have experienced Rennie Grove Peace services or be bereaved themselves.
