Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated History Teacher for a full-time position at a highly respected secondary school in Wilmslow. This role is to cover a long-term absence from September until December, offering a dynamic opportunity for a passionate educator to contribute to the school's success. Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Planning and Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging History lessons that align with the national curriculum, fostering a deep understanding of historical events and their relevance to today’s world.
  • Student Engagement: Create a stimulating classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, discussion, and active learning. Utilize a range of teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assessment and Progress Tracking: Regularly assess student progress through various methods such as exams, essays, and projects. Provide constructive feedback to guide students in improving their academic performance.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning. Implement effective behavior management strategies to ensure all students are engaged and learning effectively.
  • Resource Utilization: Integrate diverse teaching materials and resources, including primary sources, digital content, and visual aids, to enhance the learning experience.
  • Support for Diverse Learners: Identify and address the individual learning needs of students, providing additional support or extension activities as needed to ensure that all students can achieve their full potential.
  • Collaboration and Professional Development: Work closely with colleagues in the History department and across the school, sharing best practices and contributing to the development of the curriculum.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns, fostering strong partnerships that support student success.
  • Extracurricular Involvement: Contribute to the school community by participating in or leading extracurricular activities related to History, such as history clubs, field trips, or debate teams.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in History or a related field.
  • Experience: Prior experience teaching History at the secondary level, with a thorough understanding of the national curriculum and effective assessment practices.
  • Skills: Strong classroom management abilities, excellent communication skills, and a talent for engaging students in the subject matter.
