Trust Grade Registrar in Urology

Job summary
This post is primarily intended for trainees in Urology who have completed Core Training and are working towards a UK national training grade post in Urology . The post does not carry SAC or college approval for training. We will also consider doctors that already have experience in Urology and are trying to gain specialist registration in the UK. It is essential that the candidate has passed the MRCS or is able to demonstrate equivalent competencies and has a minimum of Urology experience of 12 to 18 months as a core trainee
Main duties of the job
Emergency (non-elective)
The successful candidate will be part of a 1 in 8 registrar on call rota. The successful candidate will be expected to act as a competent member of the on call team. This includes professional communication with colleagues and the team and organisation/provision of initial patient care.
Elective
The successful candidate will principally work with a consultant or team of consultants within a Urological subspecialty but may be required to cover in other Urology specialties to ensure emergency service provision by the department. Successful candidates will attend clinics, theatre sessions and ward rounds as per allocation in a weekly timetable within City campus site
The successful candidate will be required to know the patients that are under the care of the subspecialties and helps with the running of the Department.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching, audit and where possible, research.

Successful candidates will attend clinics, theatre sessions and ward rounds as per allocation in a weekly timetable within City campus site and the and ensure patient documentation/communication is kept up to date as part of care.

Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
Essential
Must hold or be eligible for Full Registration with the General Medical Council and license to practice BMBS or equivalent MRCS or equivalent
Desirable
Evidence of ability for career progression within 3 years of MRCS
Experience
Essential
Minimum 2 years of Core trainee in Surgical specialties including 1 year experience in Urology Worked as senior Core trainee in Urology for a minimum of 12-18 months
Desirable
Experience in Urology for 6 months at registrar level-
