Weekly Salary: £12.90 - £13.55 per hour

Teaching Personnel are looking enthusiastic and compassionate graduates to join their team of SEN Teaching Assistants at an OFSTED rated ‘Outstanding’ SEN school in Lichfield. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your psychology background in a supportive, nurturing, and dynamic environment.

This position is full time Monday to Friday (8:30am to 15:30pm). Your role will be to support individuals aged 7 to 18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, as well as autism and associated conditions to achieve educational success. The school provides an individual learning plan which is tailored to meet the pupils needs. The school has exceptional facilities such as food technology suites, music departments, sports hall and computer rooms with around 8 students per class. The successful candidate will be required to support individuals 1:1 during their lessons. They must show confidence when handling events of challenging behaviour, ensuring students are able to progress and remain engaged in lessons.

Responsibilities:

  • Support individual students and small groups with tailored learning activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Provide emotional and social support, helping students to develop confidence and independence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to adapt classroom activities and materials to meet the needs of all learners.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Psychology Degree (or related field).
  • A genuine interest in working with children with SEN and a desire to make a positive impact.
  • An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a resilient mindset.

Previous experience in an educational setting is an advantage but not essential—what matters most is your enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference in children’s lives
