Royal Mail is looking to add 3 Out of home (OOH) Operational Interface Managers to it’s team. If you have a strong operational background within collections and/or delivery and you have an open-minded approach to the commercial world then this could be the role for you. The role is Nationally based and your office location for in office work days would be set to your closest RM office.

About the role

This is a key role within the national Commercial interface team. You will act as the operational interface between RMG and Out of home suppliers (including Post Office Ltd, Collect + and Quadient) ensuring all parties work together in accordance with their relevant contracts.


You will also:

• Act as the main operational interface with the Out of Home Director’s team in commercial who have overall accountability for management of the contract with suppliers.
• Manage day-to-day issue resolution between RMG operations and OOH suppliers, ensuring compliance with contract specifications for handling complaints, addressing issues, and resolving queries.
• Act as the liaison between OOH suppliers and Collections Customer Operations (CComs) team regarding branch changes and relocations, maintaining branch density and legal/regulatory commitments. • Represent the commercial interface team in joint operational working groups, collaborating with OOH suppliers to maintain and enhance compliance standards.
• Spearhead the development of new initiatives to rectify operational service deficiencies and capitalise on improvement opportunities.
• Provide continuous support to CComs and customer-first business partners, focusing on contract adherence , local service resolution, and fostering professional relationships with OOH suppliers.
• Hold local units accountable for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through regular analysis of reports, performance reviews, and necessary escalations.
• Take responsibility for agreeing upon any changes to operational processes.
• Ensure frontline resources receive adequate training materials and adhere to standard operating procedures related to OOH, collaborating closely with operational teams.
• Serve as the subject matter expert within RMG regarding OOH sites and their utilisation.

About You

For this role you need an in-depth understanding of the mail pipeline, particularly with a focus on access and delivery along with being able to demonstrate proficiency in using matrix management to drive operational change and enhancements.

You also need:

• Experience in managing changes to processes or products provided by third-party entities.
• Familiarity with liaising with RM operations concerning operational specifications.
• Experience collaborating with senior stakeholders within and external to Royal Mail. • Ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
• To be commercially astute, recognising the importance of partnering with suppliers to achieve overarching objectives.
• Excellent numeracy skills, proficient in data analysis using RM systems and external platforms to identify improvement opportunities and ensure compliance.
• Strong influencing abilities.
• The capacity to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment.
• Flexibility and the ability to travel occasionally as required.
