An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in custom built laboratories within the Environmental Sciences Group of Smithers ERS. Based in Harrogate we are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant/Technician within Environmental Fate.

You will be working within a small team conducting a wide range of tests which are designed to help evaluate the potential risks of substances to the environment resulting from the manufacture and use of pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals and agrochemicals.

Training will be given in all aspects of the role which include: set-up and maintenance of laboratory degradation studies, sample analysis and general laboratory and housekeeping duties. Responsibilities of your role may vary dependent on qualifications and relevant experience.

Qualifications and Experience

Ideally having laboratory experience or educated to GSCE, A-level or equivalent in chemistry or a related scientific subject.

Interested applicants should have excellent IT skills, be well-organised, enthusiastic and demonstrate a hands-on approach to work with an ability to use their initiative and apply knowledge. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are essential.
