What you'll be doing? Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships. While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business. As Management Account, you will contribute to the overall success of the business, through supporting the Finance Manager in the effective management of the Finance team.
You will be expected to: Assist the Finance Manager as required in the half-year end and year-end reporting and audit process Support the Finance Manager in preparing monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliation Assist with accurate and robust forecasting and planning in line with Group requirements Liaise closely with Commercial team to manage project budgets and forecasts and subcontractor accounts Support payment processing to ensure an accurate and timely service, using the Group systems. Ensure accurate accounting for VAT, subcontractors tax and CITB payments as appropriate Support the continuous improvements and developments of reporting, procedures and governance Promote and act in accordance with Group values, systems, policies and procedures. What you'll need? To be successful in the role, we are looking for: A professionally qualified accountant or qualified by experience, ideally within the house-building sector. A strong team motivator with the drive and tenacity to achieve the goals of the business. Highly numerate with strong IT and financial analysis skills, coupled with the ability to interpret data and assess impacts on the business. Experience of managing budgets/cost control, and planning and organising work to meet targets. Able and willing to contribute a professional opinion to the overall management of the business. Self-confident, decisive, resilient and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
