The CAMHS team (Child and Adolescent Mental health Service) in North Tyneside has an exciting opportunity to recruit one CBT Recruit to Train Trainee to join our team as part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programmes (formerly CYP-IAPT).
Recruit to Train is a government-funded initiative aiming to grow the child mental health workforce to meet much needed demand. Successful applicants will gain experience of providing psychological therapies for children and young people using NICE recommended and evidence-based mental health treatments. As a trainee, they will also be expected to attend and complete CBT - PG Diploma in Evidence Based Psychological Therapy (CBT) training at Northumbria University, within 12 months, and gain the skills and knowledge to enable them to deliver High Intensity CBT Interventions . The training course with the University commences in January 2025, therefore it is essential that the trainees will be available for employment January 2025.
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months (to complete qualification) and there may be opportunities for employment once the course is completed but this is not guaranteed. The team values a supportive working environment, continued professional development and career advancement.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will conduct thorough CAMHS Assessments, CBT Assessments and provide evidence-based CBT therapy in line with the NICE guidelines for CYP. The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team made up of various disciplines and professions to include: psychology, child psychotherapy, nursing, psychiatry, CAMHS therapists and support workers.
The postholder will undertake and successfully complete training in the - CBT - PG Diploma in Evidence Based Psychological Therapy (CBT) training at Northumbria University, within 12 months.
We are seeking highly motivated candidates who are enthusiastic about making a difference to children's mental health through evidence-based interventions based on NICE Guideline recommended treatment.

Trainees are eligible for training if they have not accessed an CYP-PT funded training programme within the last 2 years of qualifying.

This intensive training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using the core principles of the CYP Psychological Training Programme and consistent with the evidence base in the area of cognitive behavioural therapy.
The post-holder will work in the service, for at least days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme or undertaking self-study days for the remaining days, as required by the education provider.
The post holder will hold an appropriate training case load and complete the necessary assignments to meet the course requirements.
The post holder to meet targets that are set within the service.
The post holder to successfully undertake training on the CBT - PG Diploma in Evidence Based Psychological Therapy (CBT) course at Northumbria University and complete within 12 months.

Experience of working in a children and young peoples mental health service.
Experience of offering assessments and treatments to children, young people and their families.

Qualifications
Essential
Willingness to Undertake and successfully complete CBT - PG Diploma in Evidence Based Psychological Therapy (CBT) training at Northumbria University, within 12 months.
Professional qualification teaching, nursing, SW,AHP. Counselling or within a psychological therapy.
Trainees are eligible for training if they have not accessed an CYP-PT funded training programme within the last 2 years of qualifying.
Physical Skills

Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
Ability to manage own time and diary and to manage demands of both training course and work in service.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk is across the full duration of the working day.
Ability to on occasion, move and handle objects in line with Trust guidelines using appropriate aids.
Ability to work flexibly sometimes working additional or unsocial hours as necessary to meet the needs of the service and ensure a complete understanding is had in relation to care delivery.

Essential
Professional qualification 1st Level Registered Nurse, social work, OT, psychology or equivalent professional qualification/relevant experience Hold current registration with a regulated professional body/ organisation: NMC, HCPC or BACP Post Graduate Qualification or equivalent qualification and / or experience
Desirable
A recognised teaching and training qualification. Additional qualification in a specific therapeutic modality Training and/or experience in working with neurodevelopmental conditions
Experience and Knowledge

Extensive experience of working in child and adolescent mental health services or substantial experience of working with children and young people with emotional and behavioural and neurodevelopmental difficulties. Experience of working with Children and Young People in a variety of settings. Experience of working in partnership with other agencies. Evidence of leadership skills/experience. Experience of delivering training/clinical supervision. Experience of delivering a wide range of interventions including group work, parenting work and individual therapy.
