Secondary School Behaviour Mentor

Teaching Personnel are seeking a number of Secondary School Behaviour Mentors to join a Secondary school in the Newport area.  These positions are to begin in September 2024, and will be for the academic year.  There may be an opportunity to join the school on a permanent basis pending a successful review in July 2025.

As a Behaviour Mentor you will be working alongside a group of Teaching Assistants, to support pupils aged 11-16 with their behaviour, within the classroom setting.  The pupils you support will have Social and Emotional Mental Health needs (SEMH) as well as learning difficulties within the mainstream classroom.

Details:

  • £12.92 - £14.60 hourly pay (dependant on experience/qualifications)
  • 08:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday. (term time only)
  • Start date: 2nd September 2024
  • Contract initially until August 2025
  • Supporting pupils ages 11-16 with Behavioural needs.

The Role:

This Behaviour Mentor role is designed to focus on aiding children within the classroom to focus and support them with their learning.  We are looking for a strong candidate with previous experience supporting children with ASC, ADHD and challenging behaviour. As a Behaviour Mentor, your role will be helping students overcome their behavioural difficulties, whilst acting as a role model and someone to look up to.

The Candidate:

We are looking for a candidate who has the ability to inspire all those around them. We want an individual who has a passion for making a difference in the life of disadvantaged children. Although not necessary, we believe candidates with experiences in the following areas would be excellent applicants for the Behaviour Mentor role:

  • SEN – ASD/ADHD experience
  • Behaviour Management
  • Learning Support
  • SEMH
  • Sport Coaching
  • Teaching Assistant

 

Requirements:

  • DBS and EWC registration - Teaching Personnel will help you apply for these during the registration process.
  • Passion for making an impact on the lives of children.
  • Prior experience supportingchallenging behaviour
  • Patience, composure, and team spirit.
