Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Kings Corner Surgery for a part time (24 hours per week) Healthcare Assistant (HCA). We are seeking an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic HCA to join our Practice Team.

The role of HCA is an essential part of our GP Practice team. You will be working alongside our friendly and patient focused clinical, administrative and management teams, providing an essential support function and delivering the best care to our patients. The post holder will undertake delegated tasks and duties under indirect supervision of members of the nurse team and general practitioners. You must work with a autonomy and a high degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, discretion, empathy and tact.

The HCA will undertake a range of duties, including: Phlebotomy, Wound care/dressings, BP Checks, Height, Weight, BMI, ECG's and other HCA duties as appropriate.

Workings days / hours: 24 hours per week over 3/4 days - to be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

To undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Practice Nurse team & General Practitioners. To work with the team and contribute towards accomplishing maximum results for QOF. Phlebotomy NHS Health Checks Diabetic Foot Checks Assist with the provision of Annual reviews (where appropriate) Height/Weight/BMI monitoring BP Checks Dressings / Wound Care / Removal of sutures & staples Urinalysis - testing & recording Carry out ECG's INR (if trained) Chaperoning duties as required Assist with Coil fittings Vaccine/Cold chain storage, monitoring and recording The inputting of information onto the Practice clinical system (EMIS)

About us

We are a Training practice with an approximate list size of 7,300 patients and use the EMIS Web clinical system common to all practices in Berkshire. Our clinical team includes: HCA, Practice Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, PA, Pharmacist(s), GP Trainee(s) & GPs.

Our aim is to provide high quality care at the point of need to our practice population.

We have a strong team ethos within the practice which we actively maintain and develop by investing in training & mentoring. Our staff take pride in their work, enjoy building their skills, and have built up good relationships with patients, often over many years. The atmosphere is relaxed yet professional.

We are clinically driven, and are known as a happy and balanced team with good communication between clinicians and admin team.

Desirable

Working in primary care with recognised certifications and competencies.

Experience

Essential

We are looking for a HCA with previous experience of general practice. Someone who can take the initiative as part of our practice team to drive forward practice improvements and assist with the management of chronic and assist with acute patient care.
