The Role

Job Description:

As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing systems that adhere to FuSa standards and requirements. Your role will involve leading a small team of design/verification engineers working on the design and architecture of safety-critical systems that incorporate multiple safety components while ensuring the highest level of safety, reliability, and fault tolerance. Your expertise will play a vital role in crafting reliable and fail-safe systems that prioritize safety in a variety of applications, thereby contributing to the well-being and security of end-users and society

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with system architects and safety engineers and define the safety requirements for the functional safety aspects of the SoC. Design and document safety mechanisms and redundancies at the system level. Ensure the SoC design adheres to relevant functional safety standards, such as ISO 26262 for automotive or IEC 61508 for industrial applications. Create and own safety plans, safety cases, and other safety-related documentation to demonstrate compliance. Perform hazard and risk analysis for the complete SoC, identifying potential safety hazards and evaluating risks associated with HW-SW interactions. Collaborate with safety and design teams to define safety goals and risk reduction strategies. Develop hardware components and interfaces that support the overall safety strategy. Work closely with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of safety features. Collaborate with verification teams to develop safety-focused verification plans and strategies. Provide technical expertise on functional safety considerations throughout the development process. Stay updated with the latest functional safety methodologies, tools, and industry trends. Help to improve functional safety practices within the organization.

Required Skills and Experience:

An engineering background with relevant education Strong understanding of Functional Safety concepts and standards (, ISO 26262, IEC 61508). Should have completed at least one complete project that has FUSA requirements – from Design to Safety certification. Experience in safety mechanisms design, fault tolerance, and redundancy techniques. Experience of safety analysis methods like FMEA, FMEDA, and fault tree analysis. Experience of safety-related tools and methodologies used in SoC design and verification.

“Nice To Have” Skills:

Familiarity in digital design, hardware description languages (Verilog, VHDL), and system-level design. Familiarity with SoC architecture, integration, and software-hardware interactions. Knowledge of safety certification processes for safety-critical applications (, automotive, industrial). Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Strong interpersonal skills to convey complex technical information effectively. Experience with leading a team of Functional Safety engineers.

In Return:

We offer a competitive reward package including healthcare and wellness support. In addition, there are other benefits such as a supplementary pension, and 25 days annual leave (with an option to buy an additional 5 days per year).
