We are currently recruiting for a Sterile Services Technician vacancy. This is an excellent opportunity to join the business at an entry-level and receive world-class training to get you on to a defined career pathway.


About You

Training and Working Patterns

We require all candidates to complete the same training for this role, regardless of their chosen working pattern. The training program spans 12 weeks, running from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. 

Upon successful completion of the training, you will transition into a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Sunday). You’ll have the flexibility to choose from three different shifts:

Morning shift: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM Afternoon shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM Night shift: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Please note that due to the nature of this role, all employees must be available to work weekends and bank holidays.

What is involved?

Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards. Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards. Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively. Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak). Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship This is a 12-15 month fully funded programme studying good scientific practice for the Healthcare profession It is universally applicable outside of STERIS Completed on the job, you are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career
