Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic radiologist to join the team of cardiothoracic radiologists working cross site to provide high quality cardiothoracic imaging services to Oxfordshire and to support the on call service. The Trust is a cancer centre with a large oncology unit, a cardiothoracic surgical centre, a tertiary referral centre for interstitial lung disease and pleural disease and is also a major trauma centre. The Directorate is progressive and keen to invest in the future workforce with such measures as a 4 day week, home reporting, advanced practitioner radiographers and cycle to work schemes.

The post holder will provide imaging support for cardiothoracic patients and have on call and cross-sectional imaging responsibility for the Trust. The Directorate is developing an extended day working on rotation and the candidate will be expected to participate in this service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the cardiothoracic radiology team and deliver high quality imaging, intervention and biopsy services across the Trust. Additional subspecialty interests may be accommodated/supported in oncological imaging.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The Trust is a tertiary referral centre for lung cancer, pleural and interstitial lung disease and supports the following thoracic MDT meetings: lung cancer, mesothelioma, interstitial lung disease, interventional COPD and general respiratory meetings. The post holder will be required to attend and present at these. The post holder will also contribute to acute imaging, providing in-patient CT and US sessions and image-guided intervention such as biopsy and drainages. The post holder will work at the Horton and Oxford Hospitals. It is a condition of the appointment that the post holder will be willing to work in any of the Trusts locations although travel will be remunerated.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

Full GMC registration FRCR or equivalent Presumably MD or PhD is mandatory for this post CCT in Radiology or registration on GMC Specialist Register in Radiology, or within 6 months of achieving CCT at the time of interview. At least one year higher level training in thoracic radiology / cardiac radiology at a recognised training centre Something on academic training

Desirable

Fellowship in thoracic imaging. Training in cardiac CT angiography, to a recognised level of expertise Experience of research grant applications

General training in Radiology to Specialist Level or equivalent. Additional work experience in thoracic / cardiac radiology as above.
