Exotic Species Internship - Highcroft Vet Group

Practice Site: Highcroft (Whitchurch)

Highcroft (Whitchurch)

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic RCVS registered veterinary surgeons (MRCVS) with a passion for exotic species medicine and surgery, to join a friendly and highly experienced exotic species department. Ideally applicants should be at least two years qualified.

We are an established first opinion and referral level exotic species team, able to provide an exciting new opportunity for two new veterinary surgeons at an established exotic species hospital, where you will have the opportunity to work with first opinion and referral level exotic cases.

The successful candidates will assist in all aspects of patient management including consultations, admissions, anaesthesia, diagnostic investigations (including CT and endoscopy), surgery, and post-operative care. This is an opportunity to work in an exotic species referral level veterinary environment and will provide excellent preparation for advanced veterinary training such as certification or residency. This position will require out of hours, bank holiday and weekend work with back up from advanced practitioners and senior exotic species veterinarians.

Applicants must have completed their PDP and be registered with the RCVS. They must be comfortable with sole charge, basic surgical techniques and case management. They must work effectively and efficiently with a range of people and be willing to work alongside university level students. A willingness to present at conferences, to the general public and to other veterinary colleagues is ideal. They must have good written and spoken English and have the right to work in the UK (UK or EU citizenship, or UK working VISA for the duration of the internship).

The benefits include a competitive salary, 5 weeks annual leave, fully funded CPD (5 days and £), RCVS, VDS memberships as well as pension contribution, Staff discount, employee assistance programme, save as you Earn scheme, voluntary Private Medical insurance scheme, and health cash plan
