Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Brake Press Setter Operator to join our dynamic team in Coventry. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality metal panels and components using brake presses. Working with thin gauge steel and aluminium, your expertise will help create bespoke metalwork primarily for the interior fit-out industry. This position involves working with advanced LVD and Amanda Brake Presses, and requires the ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot machines to produce precision parts to specification.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate brake presses to fold steel and aluminium parts according to technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Tooling Management: Select and install appropriate tooling to ensure the correct bends and cuts are made on materials as per specifications.
  • Quality Control: Inspect and measure finished components to ensure they meet dimensional and quality standards.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Carry out basic maintenance tasks, troubleshoot machine issues, and ensure machines are functioning optimally.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment and adherence to company procedures.
  • Independent Work: Work autonomously, manage your tasks efficiently, and ensure that deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Documentation: Record production data, including job sheets, time tracking, and material usage.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Brake Press Setter Operator or in a similar role, preferably working with LVD and Amanda Brake Presses (training will be provided for specific machines).
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Metalworking Knowledge: Familiarity with sheet metal processes, including bending, cutting, and finishing techniques.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with a focus on delivering precision and high-quality work.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues and resolve machine malfunctions or production challenges.
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with other team members, including supervisors and engineers, to ensure smooth workflow and resolve production challenges.
  • Work Ethic: Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently while meeting production deadlines.

Benefits:

  • Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM (38 hours per week). Includes a 20-minute break in the morning and a 30-minute lunch break.
  • Overtime: Occasional overtime required on Friday mornings (paid at time + 1/4).
  • Holiday: 5 weeks of holiday plus 8 statutory days, accrued.
  • Pension: Standard government pension scheme after the qualifying period.
  • Salary: £15.00 per hour.
