Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity for dynamic trainees wishing to pursue a career in Acute Medicine based on our Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle (CIC).

The Trust Registrar will be assisted by the other middle grade doctors. The on call rota will be a 1 in 14 on-call commitment. On-call out-of-hours cover includes all of the Back of House Medical Inpatient areas, with in-hours cover based on the Front of House AMU/SDEC at the direction of the Consultant.

The Registrar will work under supervision of an Acute Medicine Consultant and be responsible to all the Consultants in Acute Medicine.

The post holder will be expected to be flexible and open to changes, to identify opportunities for improvement and to play an active role in developing, implementing and sustaining improvements to working practices and patient services.

Main duties of the job

The Trust Doctor (Reg) will be responsible for the day-to-day care of all patients under the Consultants in Acute Medicine. The programme of training for each individual doctor will be flexible depending on his/her particular needs and stage of training. The post will be based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle but the post holder may be required to work at other sites within the Trust.
