Job summary

The Trust in embarking on the implementation of a newElectronic Patient Record (EPR) over the next 12 months, come and be a drivingforce behind transformative digital endeavours, including the implementation ofgame-changing initiatives like our Electronic Patient Record programme.

Longer term you will be responsible for supporting thedevelopment and implementation of our Digital Strategy, which will involveDigital Architecture, Solution Design & Application Development, and DigitalSystems Integration. This will involve in-depth planning and subject expertiseto deliver the Trust's next steps and identify digital solutions.

You will have the opportunity to work with seniorstakeholders both internally and externally of the Trust and will play anintegral role in the strategic development and delivery of varioustechnologies, including the Trust's Digital application architecture andpatient-facing applications. Additionally, you will contribute to the CARESvalues of the Trust, promoting a culture based on compassion, improvement,innovation, and understanding.

Main duties of the job

The Deputy Chief Information Officer will play a critical role in supporting the Director of Digital & Chief Information Officer in the full range of their responsibilities, including identifying opportunities to develop digital innovation across the Trust as well as the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care System.

Alongside these duties, you will provide leadership to teams within Digital Services, providing direction and expertise to staff, whilst building strong relationships to support the Trust's aims and Digital Strategy. You will be responsible for overseeing budgetary management, which includes securing internal funding, overseeing project budgets, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.

In return, you could play a vital role as part of an upward journey in which there is both permission and support to be innovative to ensure that the Trust achieve their exciting digital objectives.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The Deputy CIO is a pivotal role in delivering the TrustsDigital Programme. This requires an in-depth knowledge of emerging technology,drawing on developments across the technical spectrum not only those inhealthcare, and supporting the cross-fertilisation of ideas in designsolutions.

The post holder is the Trusts primary advisor in navigatingthe external Digital solution landscape and playing a key role in securing,where possible, external funding and ensuring systems are delivered to optimisepatient care. The role extends beyond the Trust to encompass the wider healtheconomy across a patient / client base ensuring optimal Technical design ofInformation Architecture, Solutions Design and Systems Integration to allowsecure information sharing and direct access via a patient portal.

The post holder is responsible for identifying Digital,often innovative, solutions that will improve patient services and work withsenior operational and business colleagues in bringing these solutions tosuccessful implementation.

The role leads for the Trust in achieving targetlevels on external digital assessments including Healthcare Information andManagement Systems Society (HIMSS) digital maturity criteria and the DigitalMaturity Assessment (DMA) to support the Trusts aspirations to achieve excellencein digital services.

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to Masters level in Digital or related subject, or equivalent experience. Management qualification. Evidence of personal and professional development. Evidence of previous digital leadership roles in large complex organisations I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer

Desirable

Engagement in the NHS Digital Academy Programme. Quality Improvement / Change Management ITIL Prince 2 or equivalent project management qualification

Extensive experience in creating integrated digital platforms of online and offline solutions and asset management. Significant Digital systems procurement experience. Experience in risk management sufficient to understand potential risks from informatics solutions from a clinical perspective. Significant experience of implementing a new digital system in a large and complex organisation Significant experience of negotiating and managing large contracts.
